Dear Charolais Breeders,
Junior Nationals are over for another year and it was a tremendous success. We, the show committee, want to thank each and every person that attended and all of those that donated money, items or time. The juniors had a great time getting to know other juniors from across the United States. These experiences are what Junior Nationals are all about, getting the chance to meet and talk to other young people about our breed. They are the next generation of Charolais breeders and we need to support them. We would like to thank all the people that purchased tickets to our drawing and congratulations to the following people. Todd Shepphard, from Olsburg Kansas, won the weeks stay at the Marriott Hotel. Damean Carter, from Bangor Wisconsin, won the MiraFount waterer. M and R Cattle, from New market Tennessee, won the For-Most head chute. Nick Gosen, from Albert Lee Minnesota, won the TransOva flush. Katy Clawson, from Satanta Kansas, won the painting from CJ Brown. Rob Nord, from Clinton Illinois, won the DeeZee total truck detail. I would like to challenge everyone in the Charolais breed to come up with a way to donate something to the Junior Nationals every year. We have 26 different state associations and Junior Associations, if each association donates $100, that is $5,200 for Nationals. We have Charolais cattle sales every year, if we would donate a lot, a flush, embryos, or a percentage of the gross from each of these, the Nationals would be paid for. Think outside the box and encourage your young Charolais breeders to come up with ways to help support the Junior Nationals. We would also like to challenge the adult members of each state to sponsor a young Charolais breeder and send them to the Junior Nationals, get your members involved at the National level. Encourage your members to go and meet the people that will be leading the Charolais breed into the next decade. In closing we just want to thank you for your help in making the 2008 Junior Conference and Show a lasting memory for our future Charolais breeders, without every ones help there could not be an event like this. Thank you all for coming to Iowa and we hope to see you in California. Co-Chairpersons: LeRoy Lines Jeff Smith Fundraising: Marty Lewis Meals: Curt and Julie Clancy
